Sailed on the cape howe and Baron Dunmore Between 1973/75 as jnr. Engineer.Retiring from offshore anyone wishing to contact me please send me an e-mail.
Stumbled across this site in a fit of nostalgic googling-wonderful. I was the uk shipping manager for Northwood Mills of Canada and we chartered the Cape Grenville to carry lumber from Prince Rupert & vancouver to Cardiff.I have so many happy memories of all the guys especially Fingers who gave the best arrival parties in christendon. I sailed on her to La Rochelle from cardiff(ships librarian) which was the first ever shipment of canadian lumber to La Rochelle. The civic reception we received was surprising to say the least, especially as we had tried to fill the swimming pool with empty tins of Tennents as an arrival gesture. What wonderful memories.Roy Leaker

Hey all,My Father John Russell was an Engineer and sailed on many ships such as the Temple Arch (where he told me fond memories of the temple tigers) Though I think this was the ship he said he had teh most bother with the engines (lol) Also The Barron Ardrossan.
My dad was known as Rosco or Jun-Jun, sadly he passed away in Feb this year. I would be extremely grateful if anyone has any pictures or even memories they may have of my father during this period of his life, If you could please e-mail me jr009a1413@blueyonder.co.uk

Just realised after contact from an OC who also joined SSM, that my email address showing here is one I shall be ditching the moment my contract is up with Orange, along with their phone!Best regards to all those born North o' the border for Hogmanay!
Stumbled accross this amazing site for the first time this morning. Absolutely brilliant. I can't believe that's the time already. Where did it go?I saw my name on the Crew List for the Cape Leeuwin, my first trip which I joined in Jakarta as a fresh faced 16 year old in 1977. I can remember so many faces and the runs ashore but I'm buggered if I can remember a lot of names! How's that possible?
Sailed on the Cape Rodney in 78. Joined in Ube, and paid off in Qsaka 7 months later. Great times. Billy 'beads' Wilson are you out there?
great reading all the posts from over the years and seeing where everyone ended up. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me fromthose trips.
