I sailed on Cape Sable from Greenock in 1960 for 13 months as R/O with Captain Sutherland. There were great times!
Would love to hear from anyone as I am seeking a photo of ss Cape Sable or at least her sister ship Cape Wrath 1960.
Thanks. Graham Glover R/O.
What a great site. What fantastic memories i have of MV Baron Pentland in the late '70s. I was the cadet but stupidly resigned after only one 7 month trip however, I have not forgotten the characters i met. Tommy Robson, Nick Wilson, Capt Walker and my mate at the time Mike Coward. I even went ot visit him at his home in Barrow on Furness. I hope you all are healthy and fine.
Great site. Didnt sail with SSM but in june 1972 my ship Antrim was berthed behind Baron Renfrew in Brisbane. We sighned on EDH M. LEWIS as B.R.apparantly had some problems which i cant remember.Maybe engine? Can anyone tell me what these were and how long she was in Brisbane for.
Great site, what a surprise.
Best reagards to everyone.
Leigh Speechley - check your discharge book - you were 4/E on my first trip on the Cape Horn, presumably your 2nd trip with SSM?
